Oh My Grill’d!  There’s a new salad dealer in town and they mean business!

Intrigued by the ‘We’ve Fixed Our Salads!’ sign I spotted on Hay Street, I just had to skip on down Shafto Lane to find out what was going on.  And HELLO, there’s a new Grill’d on the block!

I’ve been to the Grill’d Mt Lawley store and although their chips are sensational, I wasn’t entirely sold on their burgers.  Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE that they offer three different types of veggie burgers that they’ll happily veganise for you and that they give so much back to the community by supporting local charities, but I much preferred the delicious Jus Burgers.  Also, maybe it’s the location of that store or maybe it’s the feng shui, but I never really felt bliss there.

So you can imagine my delight when I skipped into the new Shafto Lane store to find a huge, warm, friendly space and smiling staff who happily veganised their latest creation for me.  And what a healthy creation it is!

Introducing… the Mixed Vegetable & Dukkah Salad, $13.90 – mixed roast vegetables, black & white quinoa, cherry tomatoes, mesculin, balsamic dressing & dukkah (hold the fetta).

Grill'd Vegan Salad

I couldn’t fault any of it.  The ambience, the decor, the staff, the salad – all were in perfect harmony.

I vowed to give the Mt Lawley store another chance and to make the Shafto Lane store my new favourite loitering place.  Feng shui salads this good don’t come along every day.

Wow, that salad looks amazing! I haven’t yet tried Grill’d, I have heard the fries were really good and I’m keen to check out the veg burgers

MMMM this looks awesome! I tried a salad from the subiaco store once and was severely disappointed, it was really oily and not very tasty at all. Will definitely have to give this new one a go 🙂

A-ha! Maybe that’s what their sign was about! Thank heavens they ‘fixed their salads’! 🙂

Wow! I haven’t been to Shafto Lane since I lived in Perth just on 30 years ago! I love the place and really loved Northbridge and its multicultural food and ethnic embrace. I have to say as a vego in Perth years ago it was a hard ask to find anything to eat…much like being a vegan in Launceston Tasmania…at least you can get your shop to veganise things for you! We have 1 alternative here in Launceston but it would be great to not have to explain what being a vegan means every single time you want to eat out :(. Glad to see good old Perth is going ahead in leaps and bounds 🙂

Ohhh I remember how hard it was to find even vegetarian options in Perth years ago so I completely sympathise with you being in Launceston! Fingers crossed they will get with the program soon. If Perth can do it, surely Tassy can too! 😉

Ooooo, I will have to check out Grill’d now. I never bothered as I just thought they were a fast food like chain and wouldn’t offer vegan options. I have just spent the last 1.5 hours on the phone here in Brisbane CBD trying to find a place that is open for lunch that will happily do vegan food for me and my girlfriend (all my fav vegan places are closed for the holidays). In the end I gave up! Most Brisbane restaurants are not too friendly to vegans :-). Here I come Grill’d!

Alana, I’d highly recommend Ben’s Alibi, Steamed and Guzman Y Gomez for vegan-friendly options in the Brisbane CDB. 🙂

Good lord, that salad looks amazing! And I’m kind of nuts about Dukkah right now, but I’d never considered putting it in salad… Until now! 🙂
