A huge component of my Institute for Integrative Nutrition studies surrounds the basic human need for ‘Primary Food’ – such as healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, creative outlets, spirituality and physical exercise.
The truth is it doesn’t matter how much broccoli we eat or how healthy our food nutrition is, if our spiritual and emotional needs are not being met we’re unable to reach a high level of health, happiness and overall well-being.
With this in mind and to reignite our passion to live our best year ever (at a time when our New Years Resolutions are often forgotten), I’m thrilled to bring the very first guest author to Vegan Sparkles!
Jia Ni writes one of my favourite blogs and is a constant powerhouse of beautiful inspiration. She is also Perth-based (like me!) and a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

I’d like to start by introducing myself! I’m Jia Ni – certified holistic health + life coach over at Happy Healthy Abundant. I am super honoured and stoked to be here today. Hugest thanks to Bex for having me on Vegan Sparkles!
Without further ado, let’s talk about the THREE essential practices that will guarantee you an incredible life this year:
1. Find Your ‘Why’ (and live your mission)
Let everything you do be a reflection of what you believe in.
Think about it like this: the way you live your life is how you tell your story (and leave your legacy). So what kind of story do you want to tell? (and what are you currently telling?)
In other words, align your actions with your values + intentions.
If your mission is to live a courageous life, then keep this close to your heart! Pull that bravery card out whenever you’re feeling fear. DO what you fear most (we all know great things happen after that!). Let this be the year you step up and embrace your fears!
So – find your ‘why’. What do you believe in? What do you believe your mission in this life is?
Living life with a clear WHY is living with conviction, confidence, and connected to your soul. It is the ultimate way to achieve peace in your mind, body, and soul.
For instance, my mission is to help you discover + live a happy healthy abundant life. Everything I do in my life and biz? It all goes back to this mission. Does it resonate with my ‘why’? If yes, then I’m all in, whole heartedly, 100%!
2. Be Your Own Best Friend – Love YOU
So many of us (me included) get caught up with our outer world. We strive to achieve more goals, more fulfilling relationships, and perhaps even more material goods. And that’s all totally fine!
However, seeking OUTSIDE without first achieving a harmonious and loving state INSIDE will only leave you feeling empty.
Ever had the feeling – even after achieving a MAJOR goal – of being less fulfilled than you imagined to feel after all the hard work? Like … alright, so what’s next?
This all comes down to the same thing – we spend too little time within! Loving yourself, and directing your focus and energy to yourself sets you up for an incredible life.
How do you do it?
Start by taking time off to spend time with you, and just you. Some ideas include: taking time to reflect in silence, journaling, meditating, investing in yourself, or engaging in activities that you thoroughly enjoy.
Remember: the greatest love story never told, is the one between you … and you. 🙂
3. Honour Your Beliefs (Be authentic!)
This year, honour your beliefs. Listen to your intuition, heed your gut feelings, do what feels … right.
Believe it or not, you – your higher self/soul – already knows all the best answers. Sometimes asking for someone else’s opinion may even complicate matters! (of course, this isn’t always the case).
But our first instinct, our feeling, our limbic brain – truly knows what’s best. And it communicates with us through feelings (and not so much logic).
So whenever you’re at a crossroad, or in a dilemma – take a moment to feel (like, really feel!). Then, do what you believe feels right. When you act upon what you believe in, you are authentic. You start to live in accordance to your soul’s truth.
Doing that, you’ll shine, and magnetize miracles into your incredible life!
BONUS TIP: Follow the signs! (Your time is NOW)
I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and that everyone is in your life for a purpose. So if you’re here now, it’s because it’s the perfect time for you to act.
You’re ready. Follow the signs, ask for them, know that there are no coincidences (really, there aren’t!).
I’m so pumped to see how beautifully your path unfolds now that you have the 3 tools above. They’re powerful, and life-changing!
