I’ve been meaning to go back to Source Foods ever since they laid this incredible Tempeh Burger on me a few months ago. Check that baby out! I was on my own at the time. Do you know how hard it is to eat a massive burger like this on your own? Oh don’t worry, I gave it a good nudge, and loved every bite. Unfortunately a lot of it also ended up all over my shirt and down by jeans, and since there was no-one with me to giggle about it with or use as a human shield, I also looked like some kind of loner Paintballing lunatic on the walk back to my car. Not the best look to rock on Beaufort Street on a Saturday. 😉
Well, I learnt my lesson. This time I was savvy and dragged my friend along with me to try out their brunch. At 11:30am. With zero food before that and a fifteen minute walk to get there. We were (possibly a little grumpy and) just about ravenous enough to eat animal crackers, which was just as well because the portions here are HUGE and impossible to stop eating because they’re so delicious. We both ordered the ‘Vegan Heaven’, mainly because it was the largest vegan item on menu, and did I mention we were starving?? Organic toast, hummus, spicy beans, grilled tomato and mushrooms and wilted greens, all washed down with amazing soy cappuccinos.
The service was fast and fuss-free, and we were grateful. mmmmm, Vegan Heaven it was indeed.
Source Foods eco café is all the good stuff – fair trade, organic, and locally sourced where possible, and they have a heap of vegan salads and soups in addition to their brunches and burgers. Check out the pics and updates on their Facebook page for daily veg humour from their friendly staff and details of their latest and greatest tasty offerings.
Well, you saw the sign. This way for Yumtown…
