Zekka Cafe, CBDMarch 27th, 2012 6 comments

 

Concealed at the end of a stylish laneway on King Street is a gorgeous little CBD hideaway by the name of Zekka.  Warm and cosy in winter, cool and breezy in summer, and filled with attractive wooden furniture and lighting, Zekka always has the perfect atmosphere.  Add the best coffee in town, a simple menu filled with great choices for less than ten bucks each, and competent and friendly staff, and it’s pretty hard to beat.

In winter there’s a special kind of comforting bliss in catching up with friends over a huge bowl of Zekka’s steaming hot veg soup with crusty toast.  I haven’t managed to snap a photo of the soups yet, but trust me – with flavours like Spicy Tomato, Moroccan Sweet Potato & Chickpea, Beetroot & Coriander, and Potato & Leek - they are always a winner.

The lunch choices change daily to keep things interesting, and there is always at least one delicious vegan option.  Follow them on Facebook and they will often post a tease of what is on offer that day, to get your mouth watering and your feet walking over there.

In summer I love the fresh and funky salads.  Some of my favourite salad ideas sprang forth from Zekka.  Combinations like:

• Apple, coriander, spring onion, red capsicum, celery, carrot, ginger, rice noodles and sesame seeds with soy, sweet chilli dressing.
• Cous cous, rocket, parsley, pistachio, dried apricot and red onion with balsamic glaze.
• Roast potato, sweet potato, capsicum, spinach and avocado with balsamic glaze.

 

 

 

 
mmmmmmm…..  The breakfast choices are pretty sweet too, so HELLO, what are you waiting for?  Get involved.

     Ohhhh, they have, Angie. I cried for weeks! So sad. Country Road Cafe is close to there, though and they are still rocking some amazing vegan food.
