I had previously read about Manna Wholefoods on a few Perth vegan sites, but had no idea what really lay in store for us when Kyllie (my very funny and newly vegan friend) and I went to scope it out last Saturday. WOW, this place is incredible! Part health café, part organic produce store, it features whole foods, organic cosmetics, eco cleaners, macrobiotic and vegan snacks, and gluten-free foods, all at prices lower than those at Loose Produce.

The word is obviously out with the locals because the café was craaaazy busy, but Kyllie and I were too quick for them and managed to nab one of the outside tables! Success!

It was impossibly hard to choose what to eat because of the amazing array of veg choices, but in the end I chose the falafel and salad wrap, and Kylls chose the tempeh and salad wrap, and we both agreed they were incredibly delicious. We washed the wraps down with organic soft drinks, which were also fantastic. Ohhh yes, our health halos were glowing!

Afterwards, we had a lovely long browse through the store, checking out all the weird and wonderful foods they have on offer. I found some raw banana bars (yum!), as well as the exact shade of Suvana lip gloss I have spent months searching for (Amethyst – thanks Manna!), and for around $8 cheaper than I’ve ever seen it in health food stores.

There is even a vintage peanut butter machine in the store! Yes way!!
I own a Vitamix and can make peanut butter at home, but man, did I want to play with that machine!I have my eye on it for next time… just for fun. 🙂

Manna make their own desserts and treats, too, so we each picked up a 3 pack of raw, organic choc balls to take home (all in the name of research, of course)!  I chose peppermint, jaffa and plain choc, and they were all divine! I do love a good choc mint.

I also bought my very first Kombucha for the drive home. This tonic is widely touted as a health remedy, and the lemon one I tried was sensational.

If you love health food and haven’t already checked it out, RUN, don’t walk. You won’t be disappointed.
