How great are Mums?

Mine is especially lovely. And funny and kind, and was away on holidays this year for her birthday so I didn’t get to spoil her.

I decided an early Mother’s Day treat was in order.

I’d heard a rumour that C Restaurant (Perth’s only revolving restaurant) had recently gotten savvy with the vegan and gluten-free party at 33 floors in the sky! Now that’s special.  I channeled my inner Trixie Belden and investigated further.

One phone call and a quick pre-order email later (to order special meals at least 3 days in advance), and we were booked in for their Sunday Luncheon – 3 courses for $60 per person.

My parentals are not vegan (yet! ;-)) so they were free to order from the à la carte lunch menu when we arrived, whilst my Lovebug and I sat back and relaxed.

Meanwhile there were smiles, great service, great vino, great company, and stunning views.

family done

In no time at all, the deliciousness was underway!  My Lovebug and I shared the vegan dishes.

Starting with Green Leaf Salad with pear, roasted walnuts,  cranberries, and orange dressing:

C Restaurant Salad

And Cauliflower Carpaccio with lime vinaigrette, roquette salad, pine nuts, and  cranberries:

C Restaurant Cauli

Both salads were gorgeously fresh and seasoned with just the right touch of salt and pepper to bring out all the heavenly flavours, and the portion sizes were perfect.

Next up were Wild Mushroom, fresh shitake & morels Risotto with roasted pine nuts and asparagus:

C Restaurant mushroom risotto

And Roasted Butternut Pumpkin Risotto with pumpkin oil and crispy pumpkin seeds:

C Restaurant Pumpkin Risotto

Now, I am a very lucky woman to be in love with a man who can whip up an incredible Mushroom, Asparagus, Beetroot and Thyme Risotto in about 20 minutes flat, and I couldn’t say these Risottos were better than his, but they were creamy and tasty and hit the spot.

But the real star of the show?  Dessert, baby!

Please give it up for the incredible Steamed Apple Fondant with Guava Puree and Raspberry Sorbet!

C Restaurant Dessert

Did you catch that?  SO GOOD, we need to see it again:

C Restaurant Dessert

Holy guacamole, this dish was sublime and I was so happy I’d had the sense to order two of these (and not one of these and one of the other option – fruit & sorbet).

Oops!, I was too busy reliving the magic of this dish to take a quick snap of our soy coffees afterwards but they were just as delicious, and very strong – just the way I like them.

The verdict?

My parentals loved it and the vegans were all smiles!  It was a gorgeous outing, fit for any special occasion.  ♥

Awww, what a lucky mum to have such a treat laid on for her. Especially a dinner with morels to boot – so delicious. And that pudding! If it’s half as pretty to look at as it is to eat, it must have been amazing!

I really want to go here but didn’t think they’d have anything for me so I was stoked to read this. Did they have a few different vegan wines to choose from too?
I only just found your blog after I did a search for a Japanese restaurant a friend suggested and I’m so glad I found it! 🙂

Hi Emma! So lovely to have you here, welcome! 🙂
They have a long wine list on their site so you can look up your favourite kinds on http://www.barnivore.com/ before you go. They have Sandalford whites and French champagne, so we were happy!
