We didn’t check into a West Hollywood hotel because it was within walking distance of Real Food Daily, but ohhh how glad we were that it was!

Our first night in LA we dined on the gluten-free Pizetteherbed crust, sun-dried tomato pesto, tomato, spinach, melted mozzarella and cashew cheese.  I love my cheese-less Antipasto Pizzas but big, cheesy pizzas are just so much fun!  Gooey, cheesy heaven.

The starlet of the night (and the trip!), though, was The Essence of Autumn: savoury rosemary forbidden rice, walnut and apple stuffed portabello mushroom, peppered cauliflower mash, candied walnut brussel sprouts and pomegranate.  Yes, it was just as incredible as it looks!  So many delectable flavours and textures in one dish, we didn’t want it to end!  I begged the staff for the recipe and they hinted that it might be revealed in their next cookbook.  In the meantime I’ll get to work on recreating it for you from scratch.  Stay tuned!

We polished it all off with the outrageous Brownie Bowl: a scoop of ice cream on top of a Brownie, drizzled with chocolate sauce.  Blissfully decadent holiday food!  Check out my healthy Choc Fudge Brownies version HERE.

With food this incredible, we gravitated right back there for lunch the next day (oh yes we did!) and feasted on the Club Sandwich: triple-decker crispy seitan, tempeh bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and vegenaise on sourdough.  Check that baby out!

And the Total Reuben: marinated tempeh, tofu cheese, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing on sprouted rye bread, with Caesar Salad.  Heavenly deliciousness and inspiration for my versions of the Magical Tempeh Reuben and Caesar Herb Tofu Salad.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in LA. 🙂 I recently had a different version of the Essence dish. It looked like all the same components were there, just laid out differently. And that club- one of my faves!
