We ticked a big item off our Bucket List when we touched down in L.A.:

♥••*´¨`*•.☆•  Drive Route 101 from LA to San Francisco!  ♥••*´¨`*•.☆•

It started off so well…

 Route 101 Vegan

And then proceeded to bucket torrential rains down on broken, slippery roads for the rest of our journey, eeeekkk!

Luckily we found some amazing food along the trip to keep our spirits and energy up!

We reached Santa Barbara by lunchtime and a quick and happy Google led us straight to Adama Comfort Cuisine.

We dived in from the rain to discover a peculiar set-up inside.  An old building with lots of nooks and crannies, it could definitely do with some candles or pretty lighting, but overall it was comfortable, friendly and a great place to shelter.  Plus the daisies were cute.

All that driving made us super hungry, so we decided to share the Nachos: beans, salsa, guacamole, cashew cheddar sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and Daiya cheese, $12.  It was delicious and I especially loved the warm, creamy cashew cheddar sauce rendering it like a cross between Chili Con Queso dip and regular Nachos – a winning combo!

To balance out the not-so-healthiness, I chose the Caesar Cajun Tofu Salad with pumpkin seeds, parmesan, and croutons, $12.  This was hands down the best vegan Caesar I have ever had.  The dressing was rich and creamy and the mixture of textures was sublime!

(Check out my Caesar Herb Tofu Salad version HERE)

If you find yourself in the area, go there just for this salad.  Yeppy, it’s that good.

Unlike my iPhone photography in dim lighting…

Dom chose the ‘Pastrami’ Sandwich with mustard and coleslaw (so American!) and a side of Pumpkin Soup.  I didn’t try any because for the most part faux meats gross me out, but Dom really enjoyed it.

With no room left for dessert, we couldn’t resist treating ourselves to a Sticky Bran Muffin and Mini Carrot Cake for the road.  We wouldn’t want to be stranded somewhere without delicious vegan food now, would we?

Even the sky was happy afterwards…

I love Santa Barbara… and not just because it was named after me – it also happens to be a great little town! 🙂
