Hidden at the back of the Country Road store on Murray Street is a gorgeous little café, just perfect for a weekday laaaadies lunch. Located conveniently close to work and a firm favourite with my girlfriends and I, we’ve held many girly birthday celebration lunches there over the years. Sometimes we even let our male friends come with us. 🙂
Call Country Road Cafe to reserve a table and they will have one waiting for you with your name on it. Literally. Not only is this fun and efficient, it’s also important to avoid disappointment – especially on Fridays when they are as popular as tempeh at a vegan festival.
If the weather is beautiful, try to nab a table in the outside courtyard. CRC have recently had a make-over and the new decor is funky and inviting, but take my word for it – the courtyard is still the place to be.
Experienced with dealing with the hustling CBD lunchtime crowd, the service is prompt and organised. Orders are placed and paid for at the counter, so there’s none of the usual scramble to pay the bill before you’re due back at work – leaving more time for catch-ups and giggles.
The menu offers simple and substantial fare, with a long list of vegetarian and gluten-free options, and vegan options listed at the counter (hurray!).
All of the meals are fresh and delicious, but my personal favourite is the Aubergine Curry with rice. mmmmmmm, perfection! Enjoy!
