I finally made it to Govinda’s today!
I’ve been meaning to check out this little Hare Krishna café restaurant in Northbridge for ages.
I’m so glad I did. Everyone was really friendly and chilled, and with soft music playing and incense burning, it was the perfect choice for a Monday lunch to ease into the working week.
Govinda’s is fantastic value, too. Your choice of delicious veg curries, dhal, rice, pappadum, and salad for only ten bucks! Fantastic!
You can choose to eat in or take-away and they regularly offer special deals in the late afternoons – perfect for picking up a curry on your way home for dinner.

Across the road at Jus Burgers they also do a vegan tempeh burger! nom nom nom

Hey, just wondering if the food here is vegan or if there are vegan options when you went? I’ve always wanted to go but it’s listed as lacto-vegetarian since Indian cooking traditionally uses Ghee (clarified butter) in place of oil for curries and whatnot.

As with Annalakshmi, I just asked which dishes were vegan when I arrived and the staff pointed them out. You should definitely give it a try if you get the chance.
